Deadly Nightshade Candle

During the Middle Ages belladonna was used to dilate women's pupils to make their eyes look larger and more beautiful, hence the name Atropa Belladonna meaning "beautiful lady".  However, it soon became known for more malicious activities as a poison. Tales from the time suggested it was the poison of choice for assassins and witches.

Not everyone knows that many plants are actually in the deadly nightshade plant family, including tomatoes, potatoes and many berries!
